President Ramchandra Paudel has formed the Council of Ministers on the recommendation of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'. In the Council of Ministers formed by President Paudel on the 11th of January last, according to Article 76, Clause 9 of the Constitution of Nepal, Ministers have been appointed, reshuffled, and division duties informed by the spokesperson of the President's Office, Sagar Acharya.
The newly formed Council of Ministers has 17 members. Since the Council of Ministers is still not complete, Prime Minister Dahal is in charge of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Forestry and Environment, Youth and Sports, Health and Population, and Drinking Water.
Purna Bahadur Khadka is the deputy prime minister and defense minister and Narayankaji Shrestha is the deputy prime minister and home minister in the newly formed cabinet. Similarly, Dr. Beduram Bhusal has been appointed as the Minister of Agriculture and Poultry Development, Ashok Kumar Rai as the Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, and Saratsingh Bhandari as the Minister of Labor Employment and Social Security.
Similarly, Dr. Prakasharan Mahat has been appointed as Finance Minister, Mahindra Rai Yadav as Minister of Women, Children, and Senior Citizens, Shakti Bahadur Basnet as Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Rekha Sharma as Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Sudan Kirati as Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and Aman Lal Modi as Minister of Federal Affairs and General Administration. Communications Minister Sharma, Tourism Minister Kirati, and Federal Affairs Minister Modi have already become ministers.
Similarly, Prakash Jwala has been appointed as the Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Ranjita Shrestha as the Minister of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation, Ramesh Rizal as the Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Supply, and Sita Gurung as the Minister of Urban Development. Similarly, Sushila Sirpali Thakuri is the Minister of State for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation.
In a special ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan, the newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister took the oath of office and secrecy today by Article 80 of the Constitution of Nepal before President Paudel.
